Janet Yano is a contemporary watercolor painter pushing the boundaries of the medium. Her appreciation for clean design and a passion for working with premium quality paper can be attributed to her previous career in publishing at Martha Stewart Living and Real Simple. Her painting Chapter 15: Patience was 1 of 54 pieces recently selected for the Art2Life International Exhibition from 1,800 entries.
StatementI create meditative watercolor paintings with a minimal aesthetic and monochromatic palette. Each painting is part of a larger series based on a single concept from the Tao Te Ching such as patience, fluidity, and alertness. To appreciate the work, requires a moment of stillness to see the subtlety of what can be 25 layers to form one shape.
