Patricia has painted in watercolors for many years. Watercolors are a perfect medium for capturing our coastal hills and marsh shoreline. Her watercolors emphasize light and shape in an intuitive response to the natural scene.
After visiting China in 1982 she studied the Ling Nang school of Chinese brush painting. The brushwork skills are transferred to watercolor painting by the same concept as marks and shapes on the paper.
StatementWe live in a marvelous place where the Bay waters and coastal lands allow me to express my feelings through watercolor painting. Changing light and subtle color shifts find their path in my paintings. I am drawn to the water’s edge where an incremental value shift can be found in many of the earth tone colors. Watercolor and the flow of paint on the page allows a broad range of interpretation of this wonderful place.
